What are the planned costs of the restoration (in euros)?


Enclosing walls and stucco restoration   1.700.000,-

Ceiling painting   400.000,-

Roof renovation, reactivation of the bell cage, renovation of and additions to the organ   350.000,-

Floor, furnishings, marble sculptures, panel paintings, scholarly supervision, orthophotos, incidental building expenses, air condition measurements, specialist site management, statics, scaffolding   1.050.000,-

How long will the restoration take?

The estimated date of completion is September 2012.

How many restorers will be working on site?

Depending on the tasks currently in progress in the vaulting paintings and wall areas, approximately 12. In addition, there will also be other restorers working on the furnishings (altar painting, pews, etc.), although they will only be working for short periods in the Court Chapel itself.

Is it possible to view the site?

No, this is not permitted for safety reasons. However, extensive information will be available for visitors in the form of illustrative panels with accompanying text and a video recording showing the restorers at work, which can be viewed during daytime in a special tunnel-like area immediately under the scaffolding.

Will normal viewing of the Residence be affected by the restoration work taking place in the Court Chapel?

No, the Court Chapel is located in a separate (south) part of the building.

Will the Court Chapel be used for religious purposes again after the restoration?

Yes; the local parish is responsible for religious services in the building (including weddings).
